Dear Gen-Xers:

Shut the fuck up about The Goonies. It sucks. Thank you.

Your pal,

Yeah, I apparently missed that train, because I don't get it either.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY 40-YEAR-OLD HEART

Can we add Scooby-Doo to that list as well?

No. Because being out of your box is a privilege, not a right.

For reminding me of that you go to the corner forever.

WHAT WHAT WHAT?! I'm heartbroken. The Goonies is good clean fun.

YES! Yes! This!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's going WTF about all this nonsense. It sucked the first time and it still sucks.

*gasp!* BLASPHEMY!

CAR-ROU-SEL! CAR-ROU-SEL! CAR-ROU-- waitaminute, I'm over 30 now, too. Dammit!

(Okay, actually, I think I saw it on cable once when I was a kid, and I have no particularly fond memories of it, I just felt like somebody needed to stand up for ridiculous and inaccurate nostalgia...)

Well, you know, it was kind of awesome when I was 12. But I also loved Willow, and when I watched it last year I was stunned. "Are you sure this isn't the dubbed-into-Chinese-and-then-dubbed-back-into English version? Because I could swear the dialogue didn't suck this much last time I saw this movie."

A dubbed-into-Chinese-and-then-dubbed-back-into English Willow would probably be awesome.

Or any movie, really.

Did you read the RS interview with Conan? I loved his OMG WUT reaction.

I...I liked The Goonies. Marcia and I went to see it several times at the movies when it came out.

They won't listen. As one of their number who somehow avoided The Goonies until I was an adult, I've tried to tell them, but they refuse to accept the truth.

I saw it at the cinema as like a nine yr old or something and I was SO SCARED THERE WAS PIRATES AND TREASURE AND BOOBY TRAPS AND THINGS JUMPING OUT EVERYWHERE AND EVEN A BIT OF OOGY ROMANCE WHICH WAS GROSS BUT KIND OF THRILLING ALSO AND IN SUMMARY IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER.

And then. And then.

I tried to watch it again as an adult. The less said about this the better.

[identity profile] lots42.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
What I never understood is the Scooby villains using like some gimmick that could get them billions in patents to scare someone away from three grand in jewels.

[identity profile] lots42.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
IIRC, there was a scene cut from Goonies where Brad goes booby diving in one of the girl's shirts.

No, really.

[identity profile] lots42.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I disagree. Even the cut to pieces version [1] they show on regular TV is awesome.

[1] Why do they always cut the good bits?

Thank you. Finally somebody said what I've thought for years.

Edited so that it was in english rather than wtfese.
