Tonight I got to explain to my mother that, contrary to her belief, it is in fact not illegal to make pornography in the United States of America.

I don't know where she gets these ideas.

Actually, the way the obscenity laws are written, if it could be proved that a work had no artistic value outside of its pornographic content (which covers a lot of the porn I've seen recently), theoretically it could be banned. The laws just haven't been enforced much at all since the 70's. But they are in place should a really puritanical administration come to power (shudder).
