It's not so much Gawkerfail as it is fail on the part of the author. I read that yesterday, posted on his blog. I note that he hasn't responded to any of the 150+ comments, many of which pointed out his faulty logic. I told him that the problem with his example of hitting someone with a car is that regardless of your intent, I'm still dead.

There's so much faulty logic that one hardly knows where to begin. Involved consumers =/= "hysteria." Bad corporate PR =/= attempted hoax by teenage girl who got in over her head. Et friggin' cetera.
