photo spam: ghost

[livejournal.com profile] nitasee likes pictures of ghosts -- old painted walls of advertising that have fallen into disrepair. Got this for her at lunch today:

Click to embiggen. Former typewriter store on 11th Street, now a YMCA and condos. Painted at eye level, about the size of a movie poster. We used to go there for Smith-Corona cartridges and adding machine tape. It shared a block with Trade-A-Tape (the comics store, still in business a couple blocks away, and better than ever) and the legendary Dirt Cheap (renamed Twisters in the Eighties, bought by the Homers chain, no longer part of Downtown at all).

Also, if you accidentally hit the photo button while you're putting your phone away, cool stuff can happen:

But usually it doesn't.

The second one looks like the spine of an old book. Cool. Got any old neon signs anywhere you can use your cool new toy on?

Yes. But they're not anywhere I'd care to be after sundown.

But that's where all the Cool Kids roam. To look at the neon. You see.
