rage...taking...over...!

I could spit.

I had an eBay auction finish today, for no small amount of money, and the high bidder does not seem to actually exist. His e-mail address is invalid, and his eBay record consists of two retracted bids.

I've written eBay to see if they can offer any assistance, though I doubt they can or will do anything.

Suggestions, anyone?

Boiling oil? Or maybe give him a bikini wax...hot wax...

Maybe a good old-fashioned bikini-tarring? Bring the kids, make a day of it.

I have some feathers we could use, make things nice and festive...

If you file a non-paying bidder alert form, after a certain amount of time you can get the listing fee refunded to you.

Annoying. People are evil.

Thanks! We'll see what they say in reply to my query.

Heard back from eBay. They're trying to verify whether this is a real person. If they can't, they'll refund my fees. So that's cool.

Meanwhile, they've offered to give me his address and phone number so that I can contact him offline if I wish - noting that they will be required to give him my number in return. Oh, yeah, that's practicing good online safety - give your contact information to someone who's already gone to some effort to screw you. It's a good idea!

I think they'll also let you relist the item either for free, or at a greatly reduced fee.

I believe there's also a way you can set it up so that you're not required to accept a final bid from someone with a negative rating or retracted bids.

It worked out. I offered it to the second bidder and he was more than pleased to take the item.

I will definitely look into the bid filtering thing.
