Excellent. I might have to watch it now. (All I can remember of it is snippets from my film history class.)

And I want to return the favour with this article: A Delightfully Evil Tale Of Pirates And Children. A high wind in Jamaica, a 1920s novel recommended by Daniel Handler no less. I'm odering it from Amazon.

I saw the movie version of that when I was young. It made being kidnapped by pedo pirates look totally motherfucking awesome. I still need to read it.

Anthony Quinn and James Coburn as pirates...I'm not sure if that's wrong or so wrong it's right.

I love that movie. And the whole idea of putting it in the same category as Godzilla and Kiss Me Deadly makes me horribly happy 'cos it's true.

It's great for a rainy weekend afternoon when you're already confined to the sofa.

It sounds like it would make a good double feature with Jabberwocky.

They had me at "chess game with Death."

I saw this film many years ago, back in the 70s, when Channel 13 in NYC had the rights to show the entire Janus Collection: uncut, unedited and without commercial interruption. I immediately went out and purchased a rubber stamp of the "Dance of Death", stamping it all over my letters and lined class notebooks. Nobody knew what the heck it was supposed to be.
