Because, you know, Star Trek fan fiction started in 1968, and what sf fannish rock have *you* been living under that you aren't at least peripherally aware of it? Gabaldon? Uh, porny Doctor Who, anyone? Kerr--it's hard to take anything she says about writing seriously.
