Jul. 18th, 2002 10:49 pmHome sick today. Difficulty with the whole sitting upright thing, noodly limbs, etc. Sun-cooked, something nasty in the mac and cheese, My First Virus by Fisher-Price, who knows? It's clearing out, and that's all I care about.
Got to plow through the The Men in Black omnibus. Very, very good - nasty black comedy, some genuine horror, and a Kay Kaiser joke. What more do you want in a comic?
Lowell Cunningham is pure evil. The good kind, obviously. Sandy Carruthers draws a bit like wossname who used to do X-Force and was in that annoying Levi's commercial, except that Sandy Carruthers had a handle on basic comprehensible comics storytelling, and a nice old-fashioned juicy inking style, so the art doesn't make you want to turn one of the pages sideways and slice your eyeballs open. (Uh...sorry, Bonita.) Sadly, I cannot say the same for X-Force, the first issue of which made me unable to enter a comics store for about six months when it first came out. In fact, I'm sorry I'm even thinking about it now.
