Nov. 7th, 2006 08:35 amGene's clothes, to the surprise of absolutely no one but me, are too small in the waist and hips for Ellowyne. But Ell got herself great-aunt Gene's* old usherette uniform out of the attic and totally fell in love with the jacket.
"Ann," she said, "You gotta make these pants fit! You just gotta! I don't care what you do!"
I just looked at her.
"Okay," I finally said. "But lemme try the shorts first."
So, I sliced the shorts up the outside leg, inserted white half-inch satin ribbon (to match the piping), and the extra room gave her a nifty set of 30s shorts. We'll try the trousers next. With luck we can keep the nipped-in waist.
*For those of you wondering how that's even possible, well, Gene's brother Sandy was in college when he was killed.
