Hot, tired, in no mood to type massive MediaWest accounts. I will note that apparently nothing brings out the fuckwaditude of Mr America like sports. I wore a black Nebraska jersey of no fixed sport at the con (hey, it was three bucks at the Goodwill, is astonishingly well-constructed and handsome, and I approve of anything bearing the name of my home state that is not in fucking red and white). No less than two fellas were compelled to come up and, with extreme rudeness and little humor, diss it. Amusing, since I could give a crap about sports, one of the gents in question is in fact a native of Omaha, and the other had begun the conversation by begging me to hold an elevator door open for him. Ask me again why I don't date them.

I was thus tempted to wear the thing for the entire con, but five days in a humid climate would have produced unpleasant results.

*HUGS* Can we just go back, take over the hotel and declare MediaWest to be unending?

Thanks for showering and changing clothes during the con, BTW.

::tips hat:: Howdy, ma'am.

First guy apologized eventually, so I was not forced to nut him for the second time in 15 years. Yet I was still creeped out. The second guy came at the end of my tiny supply of patience, and I informed him of his schmuckitude in specific terms.

There should have been, but...I was remiss. Pod had about two or three quotes written down last I saw, which was awfully little for her. It was not much of a weekend for writing down stuff.

The only quote I have is from the first little bit of con before it got busy:

- We hugged you verbally, was it good for you?
- I'm smiling, aren't I?

And...that's it. I got distracted after that.

My strongest memory of MW back in (dear God) '81: that was one of the years the con shared the hotel with the softball tournament, and there I was, a young mother wheeling an 11-month old through the hotel in a stroller and getting harassed by the players. Dumb stupid insensitive jocks...

Jocks are on the loose. Summer and all. It is time that the geeks reclaim what is theirs and take back the summer season!

Welcome back!

-[re: Chomsky's first suicide note] "It's not Chomsky's handwriting." "And she misspelled her own name."

-"Are the chicken tenders good?" "They're tender. And chickeny."

-He's a copy who doesn't know how to play by the rules. She's a suicidal bear. They fight crime.

-Ooooo! Say, 'We don't need no stinking badges!' Pleeeeeeeease?

-"She had a good life." "She was three months old!"

-I think maybe we should stop calling them [raccoons] 'coons.'

-So, Susan...you've found yourself a champion.

-Oh, that's the slavering demonds one. That's a good one!

-You have a whole secret life that I know nothing about. And I hope you keep it that way.

-Don't do it! Blood is so hard to get out of clothes. And we have no way to collect and drink it.

I'm glad you're back. A while back I witnessed, in the SL airport smoking lounge, three guys, all in NE shirts, jackets, hats, etc., *bond* together in this intense and really strange way; names, cities, love of the Huskers--it was beautiful, maaaaaan.

I understand the whole enjoying watching sports thing, but the culture of mutual devotion is unfathomable, like a beer ad brought to life.

I get the same thing (less venemously) over my Yankees shirt, until I point out that I chose it for the nice embroidery. Then they usually look at me funny and go away.

That little disciplinary challenge better never come to Chicago. Dog will kick his ass. Or at least rip off an arm.
