and now i know horror.
Aug. 22nd, 2002 10:20 pmMom, tonight: "I want to see the new Elizabeth Hurley movie."
. . .
She was feeling crapular tonight, so I tucked her in with various bears and we watched a couple of episodes of Men In Black. Very strange, since up until a few years ago she would've downed a Drano smoothie than watch a cartoon, but then Animaniacs softened her up. She even sat through Blue Submarine No. 6, which takes no small amount of intestinal fortitude.
Anyway, MIB comes on:
"Is this Japanese animation?"
"Mmmm...don't think so, as such."
"Huh. These guys aren't very good cartoonists, are they?"
"It's a style."
"Okay."
It makes me happy in all sorts of deeply inappropriate ways that Zed has Duke Phillips' voice. It does odd things in my brain. "We're the bears that sing for Zed, Doo-dah, doo-dah..."
Also, I never, ever want to see David Warner take his shirt off again, even as a cartoon. Some things are just inherently nightmarish.
