Character played by Paul Reubens (he was The Spleen in Mystery Men) during the 80s and a chunk of the 90s. Pee-Wee is a deranged, spazzy man-child in a grey suit that's too small for him, also the host of the (real) Saturday-morning children's show Pee-Wee's Playhouse. It was cool beyond cool. He often did talk shows - watching him torment David Letterman was always a joy - and other guest shots, and had several HBO specials.

You can probably find the movies Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, directed by Tim Burton, and Big Top Pee-Wee, at your local video store.
Pee Wee Herman was the one thing that could get my boyfriend and I to haul our hungover butts out of bed on Saturday mornings. I love that guy.
I once heard a comedian comment on our weird values. She said we hold guys like Magic Johnson up like a hero, a guy who slept with countless women, possibly spreading a dangerous, deadly disease to who knows how many. Then we crucify Pee Wee Herman, who was alone, in the dark theatre, having the safest kind of sex possible....
Wanna hear about the time I was at an opening night party in LA and had the director of the show come up to me and mutter "I've just been talking to Pee Wee Herman, what's his real name?" and I was the only one who could give an answer?
*grins*
And let's not forget Paul Reubens' wonderful cameo in the original film of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
