Wow, this could be confusing. In the movie, I think the young kid (one of the Blue Blazer Regulars) was reading a Buckaroo Banzai comic book. Which made me think that the movie was already based on a comic book. But now they're actually coming out with a comic book, 21 years after the movie in which someone was already reading a Buckaroo Banzai comic book.

Something tells me someone's been messing around with an illicit time machine again. Or else messing with my head.

To make things even more confusing, at the time of the actual movie, there was a comic book adaptation. I donated my copy to a Buckaroo-worshipping friend.

To be excessively anal, one of the Black Lectroids had a copy of the latest comic when he tragically slipped and fell out of the pod and landed on his head.

To go beyond the call of duty, the comic book cover was by Michael Kaluta. :) (http://www.figmentfly.com/bb/images6.html)

Oh--http://www.banzai-institute.com/0301news.html

Has info on the comic, etc.

Blue Blaze Irregulars.

Not Blue Blazer Regulars.

And there was a comic book at the time of the movie. Marvel did a movie adaptation. But Buckaroo is in a comic in his own universe like Hellboy has a comic in his, and the Fantastic Four have a comic in theirs.

Not including my own. :)

BB had an awesome FREE fanclub when it first came out. You'd get big grey envelopes with a fat newsletter and whatever swag they had lying around. It didn't last, of course, but it was keen back in the day.

Good call, that sounds right. I obviously need to watch the Special Edition DVD I just bought and refresh my memory on the finer points. Because now I want to know what the kid was reading!

Dr. Banzai & the Hong Kong Cavaliers would be proud of you!

And thanks for pointing out the Banzai Institute article. Hope everyone shouts REALLY LOUD when they release this comic book graphic novel!

It would be great to have the comic book, but I see the 2001 Pocket Book novelization is still available from Amazon. Maybe I'll order that with a copy of another Amazon recommended book, "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor" by Bruce Campbell. Now that sounds like fun!

Man, those Amazon teeps are getting better all the time at reading my mind!

I'm sure the Jet Car could use a good wash and wax. Go to it.
