If you go to a more liturgical church like Episcopalian (me) or Roman Catholic, a major feast day like Christmas starts at sundown of the day before, just like Jewish holidays, so if you show up for Midnight Mass (or even the early service), you've made your "Christmas duty", whether the next day is Sunday or not.
We have a morning mass without music on Christmas Day, always, but that's because our rector thinks he's really living in medieval England, or Rome around the time of Vatican I.
