Apparently, I'm the only one who gets bitten/scratched by cats, does nothing about it, and has nothing happen.
Although my last cat bit me a week before it was old enough to get rabies shots. So I had to spend that week watching to see if it suddenly stopped drinking water, went generally insane (and I dare you to try to work out what's insane behavior for a cat) or die. Peace Corps very generously offered to mail me rabies shots if it did. But, again, nothing happened.
But listen to everyone else, on account of them being far more sensible than me. Not only have I actually been on the receiving end of the "You might want to stop hugging the girl with leprosy," conversation, I then got the same thing about the girl with tuberculosis. So I am not one to consult about disease risk.
