Scary.

And I've been seriously thinking about buying a Kindle. Like, maybe this week.

Unless you have a specific need for it, I'd wait and see how the upcoming Apple tablet thingie compares. Though I doubt their policies on licensed material would be any different, considering what iTunes is like.

"I bought it, it's mine now, assclowns!" is my thinking. Do bookstores break into your house and take back books they don't have the right to sell anymore?

WTF? I say. WTF?

That would be the reason to buy, y'know, actual books.

Doubleplusungood!!! :(

Seriously, my dad keeps trying to talk me into buying a Kindle. And I keep trying to explain the problem.

Exactly.
I don't have any kindle or anything like that, but I sympathize with the ones who do and had their stuff yanked.
Me? I like the whole experience of a physical item in my hands, perhaps old-fashioned, but my preference, anyhoo.

Still... boogers! *grumble*

Someone in the metafilter thread linked to this upcoming eInk reader, which is supposedly DRM-free and has slot for an SD card and has wireless.

Apple is making a tablet computer?

That's the rumor. Of course, Apple likes to start their own rumors, so when whatever it is comes out, it may instead be a cybernetic service dog with a pilot's license and MP3 player.

See, what I could do with right now would be a cybernetic service dog that could drive. The pilot's license would be a bonus, of course, but the important parts are the driving and the being cybernetic.
