If these people had even the slightest knowledge of or genuine interest in fandom, they'd be well aware that screwing with us is about as wise as playing baseball with a hornet's nest.

They appear to be to science what Michael Medved is to film studies.

Points to eruthros for a great slap-down. Articulate and intelligent...everything that wannabe "researcher" thinks he is (but isn't).

Thanks--I've been under a rock or something and missed it.

People have done a great job of parsing the multi-layered fail in this project. I am a little sad; I would like to hear from a stone science dude/tte who could explain, precisely, how this kind of survey grants access to the "subcortical circuits" or aethers or whatever-the-fsck ontological anchoring structures this guy's theory is proposing to employ.

I'm serious. I want to know. I am interested!

No, really, though, I am serious, I'd love to be there for a real conversation between the fandom and some people with a methodology.

I mean--this wasn't hardly even a beat-down, this guy was so out-matched. More like stomping grapes. **sigh**

golf claps all around!

If you keep following various links, you'll find quite a few comments from people who do know about methodology, and they seem every bit as puzzled. And appalled.
