Found a UK ebay seller who offers downloads of 1:6 cut-fold-and-paste record jackets and vintage magazines. And yes, I am exactly the sort of person this was made for. Only some of them will get discs, because making them is a huge PITA.

Sadly it does not contain Jeff Wayne's Ware of the Worlds or the first two Alan Parsons Project albums, but does have Lexicon of Love and most of the Beatles discography.

I now have to make my dolls a crate for their LPs, and a magazine rack.

How DO you make the discs?

Find a printable you like (here's one example, but there are tons more: https://www.printmini.com/printables/records/index.html ). Download. You may need to import the document into something else so you can adjust to fit your chosen record jackets. Print out however many you want to make, one for each side. Past HALF of them onto thin cardboard or a file folder or whatevs. Cut them out carefully. Paste the other sides on the back and do any necessary trimming. Take a black Sharpie and go around the edge to make the cardboard and the edges of the paper black.

If you want them glossy, cover them in archival clear tape (I use Scotch book tape), and trim. This is very annoying to do but looks nifty.

If you want to make a hole in the center, you can use a teeny tiny hobby drill or burn through with the tip of a hot glue gun. If you make 45s, use a really good hole punch.

You can also buy mini plastic discs, but it's hard to tell whether they're 1/6 or 1/12 scale on most listings, and they're a bit expensive.

That's so cute! And sounds fun for at least the first... three times or so. Obviously would get old fast though.

Yeah. Finding a hole punch the right size would make it much easier, and you could just do plain cardboard to keep the jackets stiff. Also if anybody has more than three naked discs exposed in their room, they're just asking for a coffee-covered copy of Year of the Cat.

Also, disappointed at the lack of Year of the Cat, but maybe it wasn't as huge in the UK.

It was huge in Germany, and we were getting our international music cues from the Brits then I think.

Maybe if you printed them on that expensive photo paper. It's glossy and pretty stiff.

This sounds so fun that it almost makes me want to do it, but the last thing I need is another craft hobby. I don't know if I've ever seen pictures of your dolls, although I see doll posts you reblog! Unless do you have a separate username for dolls?

Also, at one time in the 90s, when the only way of getting UK news was to buy very expensive import magazines, I read an in-character interview with Alan Partridge and thought that he really had shot a guest on air. Because UK TV is so fucked up that it could totally have happened.

They're still their best ones. But yeah, the human size ones actually play, so that's good.

You can also get CD covers and VHS/DVD covers if that's more her bag.

Meanwhile, Nancy Jo came back from a conference and gave me a wooden box of dominoes. The box is exactly the right size to hold three rows of albums, with two dominoes as dividers. Dominoes are also good for making furniture for teeny tiny dolls.
