I don't have the words to describe just how much I hate this comic. For those who only know the TV show, this is what she looks like in the funny papers. Except usually she's wearing much, much less.

As always, it's gorgeous, Ann. Of course, the expression on her face kind of says "I hate this comic too" :-) I haven't tried to read the book or what the show -- I dunno, it just never really spoke to me. Then again, I'm still reading Cerebus like a freaking masochist after 16 years.

Oh, God, you *are* a masochist!

I have the "Melmoth" volume for its Oscarness, and thank God it mostly stands alone and there's hardly any of that goddamned aardvark or Simifyin' in it.

Poor Dave Sim. Nothing wrong with him a boyfriend with a big dick couldn't fix.

I started reading Cerebus back in the 80s when it was still funny. I like everything through "Melmoth", probably even past that. I haven't really *read* it in about 2-3 years. I mean I collect the issues but at this point all the F. Scott Fitzgerald and Hemingway allusions are just too much for my tiny little female brain to comprehend, I guess. ;)

Love the little grey fuzzy guy, loathe Dave Sim in every way imagineable but am too far into it to give up now. This is why I watched Babylon 5 during 5th season too. I guess I'm always hoping things'll get better. ;)

Hemingway allusions. Oh joy.

Yeah, both Papa and his wife Mary (?) were major characters in a really pointless exercise by Mr. Sim to prove how much he loathed them both. I think I would rather cut off my own head than try to read the entire story through.

This is just another one of my crazy ideas, but maybe...stop buying the comic?

Nah, I always see things out to the end. The latest storyline is actually kind of funny again. I sort of want to see where he goes with it since we're within 2 years of the end. I'll probably regret it later!

OW! That outfit looks just plain PAINFUL to wear!!! Prolly why she doesn't wear it on TV, hey? On the other hand, I was really enjoying the TV series. Whether or not I hated the season finale depends on what they DO with it, now. I will be incredibly annoyed if it just goes downhill from there...

The pic is lovely, of course, it's just...OW!!!

You got it!

In the real comic, there are often pointy bits digging into her...guys.

Here are some examples:

I rather like the show, all things considered. Except for the ugly paintings.

I've never read the comic. In fact, I avoid it like the ebola virus mostly because it seems to exist only as a fanboy's wet-dream. It looks even more vile and repugnant than the usual fanboy excuse for masterbation. I want to hurt the "creators" for, well, creating it. And I want to hurt them in a most 'creative' way. I've never seen and never will see the tv show because I hate it so much. But let me tell you what I really think of it...

Still, you did a marvelous job. The Swiss-army glove is a great touch. Query: if you hate the comic so much, why 'cha do the picture?

Boredom. I like the color palette. Also, the possibility of selling it.

While I'll admit, the covers of that comic just annoy the living -crap- out of me, the story itself is -extremly- well done at times, and the art lately (in the last year since my SO has been reading) has been -way- less cheesecakey on the inside.

The covers are still, however, just pure fanboy-o-rama.

I'm glad to hear that, because there's cool under all that cheese. Maybe if they turn up in the quarter bin I'll give it a sample again...

*nods* It's good enough that I'm willing to get it for my SO (who lives exactly nowhere near a comic shop, poor thing). If he was buying for cheesecake, It wouldn't be anywhere near my pull-list. ;)

They still have their moments of Blatent Underwear, but its mostly the covers.
