lotr breakfast update

So I'm sitting there with my milk and all and I'm working on this picture of Gollum. It's not working. What little solid construction there was has disappeared in a morass of red and violet fill light. He's gone all flat. I have no idea how to fix him. I need...something to look at. A model. Something to show me how to put all the terrible stress and age in the poor thing's face, to show me how eyes bag, how ears get old. What to do? Oh, what to do?

"Why are you staring at me?" says Mom.
