NYT: '“Frankly, it’s surprising to hear that Amazon, which was a pioneer in the digital space, would miss this opportunity to react in real time and to manage this crisis better than they did,” said Gene Grabowski, chairman of the crisis and litigation practice at Levick Strategic Communications in Washington.'

Humansatwork.com: "Don’t ignore the potential emotional impact of a policy decision. People don’t respond only to data — they also respond to how it makes them feel. In particular, take the time up front to think through decisions that take away some benefit from your team or your customers, or that will discriminate against certain stakeholders."

Scienceblogs.com: "Amazon does not own its customers. Consumers are entitled to view Amazon's deranking of books as appalling. They are entitled to share information about Amazon's behavior with other customers, entitled to voice their anger to Amazon, and entitled to organize efforts to shift business from Amazon to vendors with less appalling behavior."

Apr. 14th, 2009 01:02 pmCheryl Morgan: "Instead Amazon left it to staff to leak explanations, and when an official response came there was no sign of an apology and every sign that Amazon felt it had nothing to apologize for. In particular the accusation of “misreporting” appears to have been a deliberate attempt by Amazon’s PR people to cast the company as the victim in the affair. Yeah, right, that’s an interesting new spin tactic."
