Thank you, Agent Jaye. And you know, it's better to look good than to feel good.

You so nice!

Nah, it's over. Sometimes one has to attempt to walk the line between expressing one's discontent and kicking up yet another pointless online flameshitfest.

Although now I want an ONLINE FLAMESHITFEST 2002 t-shirt in the worst way.

well, hroom hmmmm, nice? hroomm thats a hasty word indeed hmmmm. :) honest, certainly. nice? sometimes :)

yeah, i didnt know how viscious some threads could get. i mistakenly thought i could debate in one recent thread, but was quickly personally insulted and other such things. i had no idea what a "troll" was. i figured that open conversation was ok and could be handled intellectually in this venue, but quickly learned my error. good choice, not firing up the flame-fest.

...hroooommmmmmmm...

Oh yeah, been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, donated it to the Goodwill. This thing was mainly in e-mail, thank God, so it wasn't totally all over the highway.

Theoretically a troll is someone who comes onto a board, list, e-mail, guestbook, etc. with the purpose of stirring shit. Sometimes it's done out of malice, sometimes it's just the result of poor people/language skills. A sock puppet (not the MESPT sort) is a form of trolling, in which someone creates one or more alternate identities to back up their own opinions. I've seen a very few people who have turned trolling into a demented, malicious art form, sending an entire group after wild geese or spinning into anarchy.

Unfortunately, as you've discovered, as with most things on the internet, people will also try to use "troll" as an insult when what they really mean is, "How dare you disagree with me?"

All part of the Web's rich pageant. ^_^

Zooooooooon!
(this is the fanatically worshipful cry of the bird-creatures to their patrons in Brin's "Uplift War." It's both worship and the-wise-have-elucidated-the-world-for-me affirmation)

Wooh, snake lady, fantabulously said!

in awe of your effete lyricism, in gratitude that you've neatly encapsulated the shades of "You troll" reactions. I'm on the someone-just-trolled-me,-wait-no-they-didn't side at the moment.

So your greatly-picturesque guidance is much appreciated. :))

And we should all hold a big lj virtual puppet & balloon parade- bring da moose too!

Ooh, masochistic!

The picture is ultra-keeey-ooote! And has pretty green ice cream!

It flirts with the very edge of "too cute to be allowed", then dances away, drops its pants, and wiggles its bare ass at the edge. Then it returns and taunts the edge.

And no, she doesn't have bits of talent lying around all over her house. Ann has heaps of it! Heaps, I tell you! Piles of it, just waiting in the corners to ambush her!

:) i'm sure she does. however, i chose to keep my compliment modest so it could be more easily accepted, and becuase i dont know ann and didnt want to come off as a flatterer. *chuckle* i often post songs and poems in my LJ (well, maybe not often...i dont post enough. *reminds self "update tonight") and when the remarks (when there are remarks) are too gleaming, it causes me wonder. :)

Can't speak about the rest of the world, but when I say a big shiny compliment, I mean it exactly the way I say it. Not to flatter the person I'm complimenting, but because I was that blown away by the art/poetry/thoughts/feelings/images whatever that the person shared that only really intense phrasing and dramatic wording seemed appropriate recompense for the intense experience I got from being able to see it.
