Susan's birthday card. Collage, wire, beads 'n junk. Inside it says 'Many Happy Returns.'

It's okay with me!

I love the background paper. It's a 12x12 scrapbooking page for prom or new year's or a black tie funeral or something, but it comes off totally surreal. (You can get some really weird stuff at the craft store, if you look at it sideways. There's a lot of wedding material that's totally Miss Havisham.)

the whole thing was great-- the color scheme, the idea, all of it. i'm like you-- i love finding great things out of context.

I wish you could've seen the books i rescued from the dumpster yesterday. color plates! of flowers! we could collage to beat the band.

Awesome! You should go look at some of the altered books online. All kinds of cool stuff and (better yet) stuff you look at and say, I could do that but make it really keen.

There were a bunch of hardcovers in the free box outside the cats' store at lunch, but somebody beat me to them.

There is SOME benefit -

To receiving a card that sets off metal detectors.

"This is a birthday card. Really. See! Yes, thank you, but it IS a birthday card and NOT a weapon. Well, maybe it is a weapon in a twisted, villagish way, but you're far too stupid to understand . . . . Handcuffs?"

That is awesome. You should go into business doing your own line of custom cards. Of course, then you'd have to deal with the whole nasty copyright issue so I guess, nevermind.

Yeah, that whole blatant theft thing kind of puts a damper on it.
