I had a nightmare involving [livejournal.com profile] beorn_bearman, a new cathedral, and our office furniture from the old house. It was fucking terrifying, and I couldn't begin to say why.

I feel very odd.

Perhaps it was the furniture from the old house, haunting you?

You could very well be right, Dr S.

If that's the case, I want this nipped in the bud before it becomes a full-blown paranormal situation. What sort of indicators should I watch out for?

Oh, the usual stuff. PKE readings off the scale, furniture apparitions, your current furniture floating or moving itself around, piles of coins, pens, remote controls or anything else that furniture is known to eat appearing in unusual places, your mother suddenly turning into a dog...

You mean...piles of coins and pens where they wouldn't normally be, right? 'Cause I tend to stack my pocket change when I come home at night.

Also, finding an unusual place for a pen to appear in my house might be kind of a problem.

Well, yes, where they wouldn't normally be. It's possible that rather than being in an unusual place, things might be arranged in an unusual pattern, or spell out words.

Um...::looks sideways::...so if, just to pull a hypothetical example out of thin air, if I were to go out to the crafts store on an unusually nice October Saturday afternoon and come home to, oh, I don't know, maybe IT IS COMING spelled out in uncooked Kraft macaroni on the kitchen floor, that would be...kind of...bad?

Possibly, yes. Or, it could mean that Peter has been to visit you. I always recommend checking the PKE readings. Do you need a meter?

Peter's not allowed in here without an escort. We learned that lesson in the 80s, thankyouverymuch.

Thanks so much, Dr S, but I have a swell PKE meter made by the folks at Kenner. I will use it to sweep the house.

*hugs* The ones you can't explain are always the worst, I find.

^_^ I think you're right. Sometimes I wonder if I don't just have panic attacks in my sleep.

Oy. "Just", she says. It would make sense, tho. It's that same feeling of lack of control over something, I've found.
