Took an example from [livejournal.com profile] bnh and read Slaughterhouse-Five today, on the grounds that one more fricken fantasy novel would send me over the edge. And since I don't own any firearms, there would be no payoff to the edge thing. Made me feel better.

The irony is of course that Slaughterhouse-Five is a fantasy novel anyway, but there's lots more goddamn fucking swearing, so it's okay.

Anyway, I'd forgotten how much I like Mr Vonnegut. Want more. I read him a lot in junior high, and probably seriously puzzled various faculty members the day I went around asking if it was really possible to kill a guy by injecting him with orange juice as was done in Happy Birthday, Wanda June.

If I did that nowadays, I'd be sent to the counselor's office trying to prove that I'm not planning on taking out the lunch crowd with high-powered weaponry.

For some reason, all of Vonnegut's books swirl together in my mind, forming one massive mind-bending ubernovel about twins who shoot people that are secretly millionaires with capsules that basically destroy water/large industrial towns, so on to infinity. This is probably a result of reading all his stuff in the span of three months my freshman year of high school.

Also, I left out Nazis. Nazis are always a given.
