So. Home in bed and doped up most of the day, which isn't as much fun as it sounds, but still. Helped shuck the Christmas ornaments. Tree has a nutcrackers and Star Trek ships theme and is not a little disturbing. Tree topper has gone AWOL for several years.

Went out at three-ish for stuff you really don't want described and magazines. No magazines, but B&N had the boxed Batman book-comic-Mego set in the remainder section, so came home lugging giant bat-box.

"Whatcha got?" Mom asks.

"Batman doll." I display its spiffy wired bat-cape.

Very long pause. Then: "Put him on top of the tree. I've got some of those twist-tie things."

So the menacing figure of Batman now graces the top of our Christmas tree.

(I should mention that she's the one who buys the Star Trek ornaments every year. For me, she says. Yeah-huh.)

Did Batman teach you the meaning of Christmas? Because that'd be the best Christmas special ever.

It's funny BECAUSE IT IS TRUE, you see.

Whoa. Cool! We just have a headless angel.

"Her head came off."
"Well, we can't have a tree without the angel. Put her up until we get a new one."
"...."
"It will just be a day or two I promise."

A week later we're still scaring the neighbors.

make her a new head with PIPE CLEANERS!

Last year we had Angel from the Original X-Men boxed set on the tree.

We need pictures, Miss Ann! And just because I have the need, I've got one word to say (okay, two):

Die Fleidermausmensch!!

Actually, since it is BatMAN, it should be "Der Fleidermausmensch!!"

Thanks, Nita! I freely admit it -- my German (all 12 words of it) is atrocious. :)

You know, I find Christmas at you house wonderfully entertaining. Twisted, but entertaining. You almost make me want to put up a Christmas tree just to see what strangeness I can come up with to decorate it with.

"...and there, at the top of the tree, was the shining dreidel. And that was the year that Bonita learned the true meaning of...um...dreidel-hanging. Or something."
