Took Mom to the mall in search of Christmas. Will not bore you with detailed description since you're all doubtless going through much the same thing. One question: Why do they keep the temperature inside at around 95 degrees when the customers are all in overcoats and parkas?

Found 1/6 Gimli at KB for $12. He's pretty keen. Molded hair instead of rooted, but for once it works. I like his little boots.

Managed to watch Firefly for the first time in weeks. When the hell did it get actively good instead of merely not bad?

Oh, that's simple.

The people who work in the mall want you to melt so they can take your walet and not have to bother with having to wait on you to get your cash.

Then they'll pull the fillings out of your teeth for cash. Gotta watch out for those mall people.

Yeah. Fox officially pulled the plug on it. The good news (or at least the not-positively-sucktastic news) is that they're not gonna keep Joss from looking for another home for it. He's determined to save it but he did stress that the cast/crew is not being tied to the project so who knows who'll be left when/if it comes back. I sorta kinda liked it before but the last 3-4 episodes have been really good. Especially since there was some sense of continuing story finally. *sigh* Where am I gonna get my weekly Gina Torres fix from now?

Well here's another fine example of FOX f***ing up a perfectly good show. The reason it started making sense and having a continuing storyline lately was because FOX finally started showing the episodes in the intended order! The first part of the pilot aired yesterday, and the first 5 or so episodes were shown in an enitely arbitrary manner.

I will never figure out why FOX will spill so much money into a show and into promoting it and then pull the plug before it can find an audience. I can't see how any network can make money doing that. FOX is one of the worst networks for never giving a show enough time. Which is cosmically stupid because the show that did the most for the network, X-Files, took it's sweet time getting a decent size following. Stupid, stupid network execs.

I knew that they were running them out of order-- I said something to that extent further on up the page. It just blows my mind that they did everything POSSIBLE to screw up this show and then stood back in surprise when its ratings were less than stellar. I mean, puhleez!

Firefly wasn't the most brilliant show in the world but it was likeable and it seems like a lot of people were just starting to get into it in the past few weeks. A) Probably because there WAS finally continuity and B) it just is taking a while to hit its stride. I do hope Joss finds a new home for the show -- it deserves to at least get a year to sink or swim. Fox is notorious for destroying anything remotely resembling a drama -- I was a diehard Alien Nation fan so I remember how they screwed things up from the very beginning. I'm still amazed the X-files managed to hang on so long.

Which sixth of Gimli did you find?

There's a reason I leave my coat in the car when I go Christmas shopping. It's so I don't blow up messily all over the other shoppers.

The last three weeks of Firefly have been really good. I think it's cos they've actually shown them in order and there's been some continuity in terms of story. So, of course, it was officially cancelled today. :-(

Can I be a total slut and promote my Firefly fanfic here? Ann will vouch for me--she's illustrated my stuff in the past.

If you read 'em, I'd appreciate feedback. Thank you kindly.

At least FOX, the scummy creeps, will air the Firefly two-hour pilot this coming Friday.
