Had to haul Mom into the radiology unit for some kind of testy-scanny-thingy at 7:00 a.m. If you make a 100-pound, 80-year-old woman drink twenty-four ounces of water and then hold it for two hours, she gets really, really cranky. And not a little skittish.

Finished latest disposa-cam with pictures of plushie Elrond and plushie Momo, took them in to Target on the way to work. Will have photos to post at some point, unless they turn out blurry or the hideous visage of Satan appears after developing.

Target also had the Star Trek mini-mates from Art Asylum. I got Spock, Mugato, and Gorn. Cutest. (Non-bear-shaped.) Blockies. Ever. If their proposed LOTR figures are half this keen, they will fly from the shelves. Spock comes with an extra Vulcan-salutin' hand. I desperately want Galaxy Quest blockies now.

Read 4th volume of Wish, finished Pattern Recognition, a hundred pages into Jane Eyre, made at dent in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Is it wrong to want to punch Holly Golightly in the face?

I liked it a lot, too--in fact, I'm amazed people *didn't* like it! Well, actually, no I'm not. But still: I really did; in fact, I wanted to reread it right after I finished it, and that's not like me.

There's a cynical part of me that wonders if some of the dislike is because the protagonist is an icky ole girrrrrrrrl.

Me too--plus, it's quieter and more introspective, and that kind of thing just doesn't fly in certain circles. Just let my copy to an sf geekboy: he can be my test case.
