"This is Burkettsville...formerly Kobe."
Mar. 7th, 2003 11:52 pmTook Mom in for another check-up. They don't want to see her 'til July now, so unless she goes all Joyce Summers on my ass that's one less thing to worry about. Yeah right.
Then we went to Target to stock up on shampoo, etc. because she's suddenly in this WWII mindset that if we go to war, there will be no nylon stockings. Eh. If it makes her feel better and we FIFO the stuff, what the hell, y'know? Unfortunately she felt it necessary to explain this in great detail to the poor checkout teen, who has never experienced a war, and frightened the poor girl unnecessarily. (Of course many of you remember Desert Storm, when we had to hang out at the airfield and blow National Guard pilots for Dove chocolate and Reeboks. The less said about Nam and the things we had to do just to get Ticonderoga pencils, the better.)
More Battle Royale. I'm scared. Hold me. And now the novel of The Ring is being released in May. Thanks so very much, Japan. Here I thought y'all were totally down with the big-eyed kawaii, maybe the occasional tentacle rape, and you start exporting the scary. Fuckers.
Went out after dinno. Bought a blister of Indigo's liquid pencils, some pointless but interesting green drafting paper with magic! grids!, lavender buttons for Chu-Chu's joints, and some fabric remnants.
Button joints, by the way, are made with upholstery thread and these unbelievably nasty long steel needles with real sharp points, the sort of thing that Michael O'Donoghue was always hypothetically driving into B-list celebrities' eyes. It takes no small amount of force and care to get them through the stuffies' bodies, and the various potential accidents could easily surpass the X-Acto Knife/Super Glue Gel/Poison Control Hotline incident of a few years back. I love living on the edge, oh yeah.

Date: 2003-03-08 04:03 am (UTC)It feels good to know that I live in a society that , at least ocasionnaly, thinks that war is more important than the Royal family.

Date: 2003-03-08 04:42 am (UTC)I went back to the normal pencil yesterday, though the liquid one is right next to it now, because the itch in the fingers is still there for it.

Date: 2003-03-08 05:10 am (UTC)Although the fact that the girl who plays Samara in The Ring is the voice of Lilo in Lilo and Stich is... unsettling.
