Well, there's a whole group of fans that say her 1) lifelong crush on Xander and her 2) relationship with Oz were just because she didn't truly know herself, and once she met Tara she realized she'd never really cared for anyone before. So she never really liked boys.
I think this is crap. Which is not to say she's unhappy with Tara-- that's not the case at all. I just have a problem with her current relationship (whatever the gender) invalidating all her previous ones.
I think people are reacting that way for two reasons:
1) Joss has written Willow as "Hello?! Gay now!" as opposed to saying she's bi.
2) The gay community is always looking for validation in the media. Ellen got slammed, and Xena skirted the issue [no pun intended]. Nothing wrong with that, but they tend to get a teense zealous.

Date: 2001-07-25 08:09 pm (UTC)Oz is...
Date: 2001-07-25 09:29 pm (UTC)He is a werewolf, which is what drove them apart. He cheated on her with another Werewolf by having full moon heat lust wolf sex.
He couldn't bear that he hurt Willow so he left her because he couldn't control his inner wolf enough.
He came back once, after studying in Tibet or something, but it wasn't good enough...and Tara and Will were already a pair by then.
Ah...
Beautiful!
