You guys have to remember, though, that it wasn't so long ago that American children were not regularly tested for butter compatibility. Butter screening was difficult and expensive until Dr Salk discovered the simple and effective dandelion test. My Uncle Johnny - the one who was at Pearl Harbor - grew up in a small rural community, and the local MD simply didn't have the resources to test the town's children. He grew up not liking butter, and when this was finally discovered - during his Navy physical - his age and wartime shortages made any sort of buttery re-education impossible. Yet he felt no bitterness, and fought for his country - and for butter-lovers everywhere.
