Sharon kindly donated her old Noir VHSes, so Mom and I watched the first two last night.

Watching anime with Mom is like going to the movies with Meatwad: "Is this a cartoon?" "Is she going to kill her?" "Are they bad guys?" "Is that the same girl from before?" "This is called what now?" "Did she kill them?" "Is he dead?" "What's her name again?" "What happened to that guy from before?"

Fortunately Noir has lots and lots of pauses.

Me, I'm wondering why Mirielle uses a mousepad when her desk is a GIANT FELT-COVERED POOL TABLE.

Maybe she just likes her mouse pad? Or maybe she doesn't want to wear the felt out? When they eat dinner on the pool table they use nice little placemats.

They also spell her surname "Buke" in the subtitles, which damn near made me choke on my Tootsie Pop.

You haven't hit the "Mirieyu" yet, have you?

The subtitles on those tapes are particularly hard to read in places. No wonder your mom is having a hard time.

Hehe. Well, my father blames me for the death of Spike in Cowboy Bebop. He spent the whole series asking me similar questions.

Sorry, I should have just expressed my disappointment with the spoiler rather than make it sound so accusatory. These things happen, and it's not as if it's a current run show.

I've been watching unspoiled... and bloody slowly because the SO, who is also watching, has been out of town a lot. Frustration!

Augh! Augh! No!!!!!!

Now I think I know why you're upset.

Don't worry, though. You can debate about it after you see everything.

And do I have to come out there and tie the SO to a chair so you'll watch it?

I don't really think chair tying is necessary, unless you just want to. Jupiter Jazz parts 1&2 are up for tonight. If I can stay awake that long.

Oohhhh, I think that's actually one of the Arc episodes. Sessions 5, 12, 13, 25, and 26 are the only ones that kind of depend on having watched the previous ones. Incidentally, they canceled CB after 12 and 13 in Japan, I think.

I think they had to re-cut 12 and 13 because... blood and stuff, I suppose. Anyway, they made it into one episode and had an extra episode instead. It was called Session XX and consisted of clips from other episodes with the craracters voice overs. Or something ^^;

The rumors I heard were that there was an increase in gang activity in Japan, so they cut it because parts of CB have to do with Spike and the syndicate or something like that. I have Session XX and was exactly what you said. :D

Session XX is the only thing Cowboy bebop that I have not seen. A part of me wants to see it and a part of me wants to wait, because after I'm done with it, theer will be no more Bebop. Except for the manga and it's oogly.

The manga is...weird. I read the first volume of both series (Shooting Star being the second) and SS is...weirdly drawn.

As for Bebop, we can only hope they'll keep doing "in series" movies.

Watching anime with Mom is like going to the movies with Meatwad

This is exactly why I don't watch new movies with my mom. She does the same thing. Drives me up the wall!
"If you'll just be quiet and *watch* the movie most of your questions will be answered!!"
And heaven help you if she has control of the remote... you'll be watching the same small insignificant scene over and over again just to hear some mumbled dialogue.

... I love my mom, she's crazy ^__^

This is a 2nd-generation copy with tiny tiny subtitles, so she's got an excuse. This time. She doesn't do it at the movies so much, but she doesn't always wear her glasses, and sometimes she sees an entirely different film from what I saw. "That was sweet when that little ghost girl came back to life at the end and hugged Harry." "Um...What?"

According to my Mom, there's something horribly, horribly wrong with all the remotes. ^_^
