O_O Steffi Love? Whazzat?

These guys are all part of the Takara Jenny/Licca family. Jenny used to be Japanese Barbie, but is her own doll now.

I have exactly one Jenny (she was packaged as a bride but I've got her in some Fashion Avenue outfit now), and a clutch of Takara Compact Dolls - little Dawn-sized bendy girls with Jenny's style sense (i.e., well made and fucking deranged).

Do you not get Steffi Loves? They must be Eurotrash dollies then! They are like plain Skipper sized dolls with sensible clothes and passive faces; almost like droids. I don't think anyone collects Steffis but me! They are easily had - much cheaper than Barbie anyway, and virtually unwanted at jumble sales!!

I will have to get some of these dollies! I love Fashion Avenue; I am addicted!! I buy a lot of vintage doll clothes, and make clothes for my poor Pippas & Dawn (you can get nothing their size here), but there is nothing like ripping open a new packet, with that slightly tacky feeling card underneath... er, yes. I HATED Bride dolls when I was wee, you did her a great kindness. I still don't have any Kens. They repel me somehow. I do have Action Men, and Hercules, Andromeda dolls and the like, but Ken... ew. And I don't have an Alan for my Midge and Baby set either. He looks really odd, I don't think she'd want him around, somehow...

Holy cow! You're right. Poor Steffi - she looks like she used to be married to John Derek.

I can't tell from the pictures, but she looks a bit like the US off-brand fashion doll, whose name varies from store to store (Kelsey, My Big Sis, etc.) but always has that same zombified look and a skin tone that tends toward the orange.

I haven't bought any new FAs in a while. It's all evening gowns and lingerie right now, and none of my girls look like they'd be comfortable in them. (My Midge is currently wearing glasses, a grey Ken FA shirt and tie, and a maxi skirt.) Poor Jenny looked like Princess Di when she arrived (she was on sale when actionace.com closed up shop), and was deeply grateful to be put in civvies.

I think my only Ken is Ken as Mulder. There's a Herc I need to clean up for poor Megara, but I haven't been inspired yet. Also a Milo Thatch (but no Kida, alas).

Alan is...I don't know. I like to think Midge could do better, but I like to think Barbie could do better, too.

I like to think Midge and Barbie should just do better with each other. Although my Midge's companion is a twinked-eyed Whizzer My Little Pony...

I have a liking for the cheap supermarket dolls. They look so... cheap. Ands needy. The only dolls I won't rescue are Charlie and Cate (sp?) and Mary-Kate and Ashley - they look evil, I think they'd kill my other dolls while I slept, and melt them down or something. They have a very wicked look. They frighten me!

You're probably right. I know my Betty and Veronica do not mourn the absence of Archie, Reggie, or Jughead.

Hm. I don't know Charlie and Cate. Mary-Kate and Ashley drive me made. They have great clothes, but, as you say...wicked. I have a Hermione in her school uniform that I suspect is made from one of their face molds, but she's Hermione and probably won't hurt anyone (and she has these fantastic grey socks that make up for a lot). Plus she owes me because I made her underwear. A girl shouldn't have to go commando on a broomstick.

There's a two-pack of Mary-Kate and Ashley action figures as spies that I would've killed for when I was in single digits, but now...wicked. O_O

There's a horrific supermarket/dollar store brand here called Diana (aka Fashion Diana and even Royal Diana). She can be had for a buck. She looks like she wouldn't survive outside the blister card. And yet the materials on the blister card are surely toxic and slowly destroying her. ::weep::

Ohh, I want a Hermione! One of the soft ones! In grey socks! I will get round to it. I'm going to get one of those flying monkey W of Oz dolls in the Warners shop tomorrow, I will look then!

I'm not sure who or what Charlie and Cate are... I just see them in Woolworths... and recoil. You'd need an exorcist if you met one up a dark alley!!
