Bad: Car making noises, taken to mechanic. Will cost money. Had to take bus to work.

Good: Car fixable for reasonable amount. Did not throw up on bus.

Bad: Massive nosebleed just before leaving for work.

Good: Was bending over to look for shoe at time, blood spray hit inside shoe rather than carpeting. Blood nice healthy red.

Bad: Have had two more since arriving at work.

Good: Nobody cares what gets on the carpet here.

Good: Bought Millennium season 1 DVD Asian boxed set.

Bad: Bought Millennium season 1 DVD Asian boxed set.

Okay, so, at my high school, service clubs were a rather big deal; if you had any plans at all for college, you joined whichever one suited your needs/social group. Every year at Thanksgiving, the school ran a food drive, and all of the service clubs had a "must donate 50 cans" requirement for members, except Key Club whose minimum was 100. This resulted in most kids just heading over to yon warehouse store and purchasing flats of something, usually ramen, because that was the cheapest thing you could get. There were rumors to the effect that every year the Food Bank of Northwest NC would send the school "please, no more ramen" letters, but who knows.

Anyway, the Thanksgiving food drive always ended with a big pep rally/assembly in the school's huge-ass real live theatre auditorium, with all the food collected in the drive piled on stage, including a Wall o' Ramen. Now, standard operations at a pep rally involved chants of "Demon Pride," what with that being the school mascot and all. (The seniors would yell "Senior Pride," which, combined with the "Demon Pride" chant, made it all sound like "Semen Pride.") Inspired by the bounty of the food drive, one year a bunch of wags decided there needed to be a new chant.

"RAMEN PRIDE! WOO-WOO!"

I feel vaguely responsible for that good/bad Millennium DVD thing. Except not.

It's my gift. It's my curse.

Sort of the way I feel vaguely responsible for Sharon's anime addiction. Except not at all.

I got it all for a hundred fifty (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3339228880&category=2307&rd=1). Pretty good deal, huh? I don't mind Asian bootlegs, not this kind--they're beautiful quality.

Honest to God, with Asian media I'm clueless. I can't tell what's a bootleg (unless it's something obvious like all 100+ episodes of Sailor Moon on VCD for $10) and what's sorta-legal. I should learn.

On one of the most convenient routes that is now defunct (because it *was* convenient, of course), one of the drivers would read the paper *while driving*. Not at the stoplights, *on the road*.

Amazingly that was *not* the reason the got rid of that bus route. As far as I know, the guy's still driving, thankfully on another route.

May your car be all better soon.
