I forget...is Tokyo Babylon like a prequel to X? I think it's somehow related, but I could be wrong.

I know it's related - they have characters in common.

I think the back of one of my NewTypes has an ad for the anime and something like "The exciting [something]quel to X!"

It's sort of a prequel. I'd say more, but if you haven't been following X, anything I say could be a spoiler. :P

I give not a crap for spoilers. Some asshole *kof*RogerEbert*kof* once spoiled The Crying Game for me, so I figure no other spoiler could ever be important.

Well, let's just say that the conflict between the two main characters in Tokyo Babylon is, um, resolved in X. I'm not sure "resolved" is the right word for it though. Involves a lot of angst before, during, and after the "resolution."

Kind of related: I've heard someone already licensed Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (?), which is impressive since it only debuted this year. O_o Most people on the CLAMP mailing list who are able to get the monthly issues are calling it a huge crossover melting pot. ^_^;

Is that the thing they're doing now that has a marijuana leaf as its logo?

...

If you had said "wing" instead of marijuana leaf, I think that's the one. Otherwise, that might be one of their other ones: either XXXholic, Legal Drug, or some other series that I can't recall the title of. Not sure since I haven't actually seen those.

No, it was definitely the other thing. "Legal Drug" sounds right.

It's a prequel of sorts. Subaru becomes one of the Dragons of Heaven, I think. Somewhere along the way the veternarian shows up too.

That's probably the most un-spoilerish way to describe him. ;D

That's mostly 'cause I can't remember the anime that well. :)

At least I didn't say anything about the sister.

OT, but have you seen that anime? More to the point, the dubbed version? Subaru sounds eeriely like Michael Jackson.

There's a good argument as to why dubs are evil. ^_-

FYI, Subaru's Japanese voice actor is also (boy) Ranma's voice actor.

I avoid dubs like the plague, but if it helps to get anime in the hands of the masses...I have to admit that it does help!

I just get attached to certain Japanese voices and I dislike it when they get destroyed by English speaking voice actors and actresses. I'm still annoyed by what they did to Hatori from Fruits Basket. Japanese Hatori's voice could put me to sleep. English Hatori's voice...makes me want to claw my skin off.

Huh. I didn't watch enough of the dub to even get to Hatori. I switched back to the subs less than five minutes into the first episode--IMHO English Tohru's voice just doesn't match the character. :P

Although I didn't realize Inoue Kazuhiko made people fall asleep. ^_-

Inoue Kazuhiko makes me sigh in fangirl dreaminess. :) Among other things. ~_^ I even started making a CD of all the things Hatori said in the series because I love his voice so much. ;)

One of the things that was an issue in FB, I think, was that Touru talks. A lot. So English Touru basically sounded like she was just trying to get all the words out. And, omg, English Yuki! He sounded like Prince Valium!

I'm definitely not missing anything by staying with the subs then.

Inoue Kazuhiko is really cool in Blue Seed. He has an image song! And somewhere out there is a solo cd album (that's really hard to find ;.;)!

Singing? Decent, not outstanding. Better than Furuya Tohru's, anyway. Too bad Kazuhiko only has the one song on the image album--and wasn't it released by ADV recently?

English pronunciation? ... Well, Blue Seed was fairly early in his career I think. He probably can pronounce English better by now.

I've no idea if it was released by ADV. I actually haven't seen Blue Seed, yet. It's on my already-too-big list of things to watch. I'm secretly just an anime collector and not a watcher, apparantly.

Until I get in a marathon mood and do something stupid like watch the last 34 episodes of Marmalade boy in 13 hours.

AHAH, for some bizarre reason, I reread the damned thing last night in hideous scanlation and scripts. You are psychic, Ann Larimer, and detected my TB lust and made all of this happen. I know it.

Now, if only those CLAMP bitches would finish X.

I need to get caught up on X. I've heard that in Volume 8 or 9, something actually happens.
