I have to burn days off before December 31 or lose them. So technically I'm on vacation. So far it's been like four days of Sunday.

Can't find the Doctor Who I was reading (I think it's at the office), but did find Mad Dogs and Englishmen, which I started right after it came out two years ago. I've picked it up several times in between, but have been stuck on the same two-page spread for ever - The Doctor, Fitz, and Anji (who the hell is Anji, anyway?) trapped in a meat locker. Poor bastards. Anyway, I broke the curse today and am on to the introduction of the writer who isn't Charles Williams, nosiree, to the InksorrySMUDGElings. Also there are poodles in it.

Watched the end of Haibane-Renmei 1, which is spiffasstastic and recommended even to folks who don't give a crap about anime.

Also saw an episode of Saint-Seya, or whatever they're calling it, on Cartoon Network. It's the much gayer Dragonball. Was very disappointed when the character with the nice green hair and big tin honkers spoke and turned out to be male.

Wait 'til you get to the end! From some of the people who were part of Lain, they present, Haibane Renmei, an anime with an ending that makes sense! On so many different levels. I was pleasantly surprised.

How many DVDs is it gonna be? Are they being dumb and putting out the 12 (or is it 13?) eps on, like, 4 DVDs?

Many. many years back, there was a show at the Ren Faire near here called "Mad Dogs and Englishmen". All I remember about it was some guy named Claude.

Saint Seiya? The OLD anime? I've seen the first 4 episodes and it was just lovely.

For all I know it's fabulous in Japanese. Among other things, this version uses a cover of A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran" as its theme tune. And it's the sort of dub where the cast Shout! Every! Line!

Oh God, I saw your picture there, and I often remembered reading about mice like that when I was wee, but I couldn't remember what book it was that I read, so I went and looked at your picture bit, and it said Mouse and his Son, and now I know the title, and I can find out who the author is, and get a copy this afternoon, cause I loved it, and I am rambling, but I am so happy, because I always wanted to remember what it was! Thankyou! xxxxx

Russell Hoban, The Mouse and His Child. Scholastic put out a really lovely hardback reissue last year.

Also there are poodles in it.

Oodles of poodles? Poodles with noodles?

I've never seen any Dragonball. It was gay? I wish I'd have known.

Not really. It could stand to be much, much gayer.

Is that the "Knights of the Zodiac" show I keep seeing commercials of when I'm not busy obsessing over fanfic?
