Went to bookstore at lunch. Made the grey cat purr, and received one of those Oh Take Me Now You Stud bites you get when a cat thinks you're speshul. Alas, this request is impossible to fulfill, for oh so many reasons.

They had huge piles of new (old) SF. Someone's collection from the 70s. The sight of all those once commonplace spines sent me into a nifty little time warp. I scored some Lord Dunsany and A. Merrit. Woo, and if I may, hoo.

i've never quite forgiven him for being possibly more sophisticated than tolkien but certainly no more interesting.

In the only novel of his I've read (I forget the name, one of the really obscure ones), he actually managed to make shooting birds sound interesting. So I'll try more.
