Yeah, anyway, about that Blackjack...the OAV series DVDs come out next year; the movie DVD has been on store shelves for some time. Outstanding dubbed version, too. Check it out if you get the chance. If you're not familiar with the series, it's medical mysteries by Tezuka. Very cool stuff.

I saw a trailer for it on...something...somewhere, and it looks RILLY KEWL! Scarier than the manga.

It is and it isn't. Some of the animated stories are directly from the manga; some aren't. The scariness comes in part from the director and character designer; it's Dezaki and Sugino teaming up and pulling out all their standard style cliches (lots of realism, lots of freezing to watercolor stills, etc). You know Dezaki and Sugino if you know Rose of Versailles and a host of other stuff. Mike is a huge fan of the show.

Foo on Viz for totally dropping the ball on the manga; I'd really love to see them revisit the title and republish all the Japanese stories from the beginning. The two manga volumes they did do are selections from the 14 Japanese volumes.
