I finally got to try the packing tape transfer thing last night. It's the coolest thing ever.

You need:
1. A printed picture of some sort, as from a magazine.
2. Clear package sealing tape.

Stick the tape over the picture.
Burnish the tape onto the picture with a ruler or popsicle stick or whatever you have, as though you're using a rub-on transfer or Chartpak letters.
Soak the whole thing in water. Get it good and soaky. Just as soaky as ever you can.
Remove it from the water.
Put it on the counter or whatever plastic-side down.
Rub off the wet paper.
You will now have a slightly sticky transparency of your image, for collagin'.

I charge you to use this power for goodness and niceness - never for evil.

We used to do this with clear contact paper in grade school to make projection slides--in that case, hot water and extra soaking (until the paper fell off on its own) worked very well.
