The article is describing *novels* that has occasional illustrations. They're *not* manga. I know this because that CLAMP title mentioned was a novel--AFAIK it was not marketed as a manga in Japan. The Rayearth novels (which I decided not to buy) were similar--mostly text, with maybe 5-10 illustrations total in a 200 page book. I don't recall at the moment if these were novelizations of the manga and/or anime stories, but the CLAMP title in the article hasn't appeared in any other format.

(But if it means that other Japanese novels which have had anime or manga based on them are eventually translated, I'm all for it.)
