Came home yesterday to huge stack of packages. I would like to say HOORAY for cheap books off eBay. So, HOORAY. The first three Malory Towers, a nifty Angela Brazil, a thing on 60s pop culture, and a box lot of Sailormoon R UFO catchers that eBay at large ignored and I got for $5.00. It has everybody in their school uniforms, including the Spawn and her Luna-P ball, plus Tuxedo Mask. It was like Christmas, only cheaper.

Alas I'd spent the entire day stuffing envelopes, then taken a metal luggage cart in the kneecap, so I went to bed at 8:30.

JoAnn's had a remnant of wonderfully hideous orange fur, so I am making a large stuffed broken carrot. I have had the following conversation with five people:

"What'cha making?"

"Stuffed carrot."

(silence)

Sharon's Juri is coming along, and I hope to finish Gretchen's...um...those white thingies from Princess Mononoke. Yeah. Them.

I think those little white spirit things from Mononoke Hime are called kodama. They're sometimes cute but sometimes alien looking. Although a little freaky in the fact that their heads can turn all the way around.

You are right, ma'am.

Hm. They make joints for turny heads. Hm. Hm.

You could scare the shit out of people with that, I'm sure, if applied...appropriately.

Funny comment from somebody whose icon is a cat wearing a bikini and drinking a pina colada! You just be nice to my little alien heads. :-)

Well, the kodama are pretty cute! (And there's a bullet train line "named after them," too!) Just...alien looking sometimes. I like how they can walk upside down and stuff.

But I'm more partial to some of Miyazaki's other cute animal things. Like the little totoros.

*sings the totoro song*

Ebay, fount of all inexpensive entertainment! (And some really expensive entertainment, too, so no bidding when drunk, boys and girls.)

Fortunately, my innate Scroogitude keeps me in line. And I can't type when I'm drunk.

You mean the tin with the lovely toffee 'n chocolate saltines that I sort of kind of ate in its entirety?

Um, maybe.

Which Brazil? I'm horribly jealous of the UFO catchers, too.

And, oh, I get the guilty terror I always get when people begin MT, that maybe having not grown up on the books they won't love them, and it will be somehow be my fault. ~grin~

I'm about to hit the antiquarian books and fashion dolls sections on Ebay.au for comfort materials, right about now...

Um...it's not in front of me. The New Girl at St. Chad's, possibly?

Anything good on your eBay hunt?
