However, that version of Captain Nemo is a world of wrong. But that is the most minor complaint a person can come up with. Because, dude, the Quartermain and Harker are perfect.
Just to be anal and niggly...and because it was an important plot point in the comic series STARMAN...it's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", not "Portrait".
And damn, do I feel silly for having pointed this out.
I'm overwhelmed with the number of figures he cannibalized to make each of the League. I have to admist, the use of Gildroy makes sense - but it was the only obvious one of the bunch.
He was in the League before the one detailed in the graphic novel.
I can't remember any mention of Tarzan being in ANY of the Leagues in the book. Ditto Ahab. Gray can be included, I suppose, in that he was in the movie, and his portrait was in the hall of Leagues, so we can assume he was somehow related to Leaguery in some way.
Tarzan is referred to in the almanac in the 2nd volume. In the middle of the African jungle, Mina and Allan find an abandoned house, with a cradle containing a baby ape skeleton. (That is, with Moore's usual method of publish date = chronological date, Tarzan's youth would be occuring about the time of their tour.)
He might appear for real in the 3rd series -- but there's no news yet. :/
Waaannnnt. Can't make myself -- *how* many figures did he cannibalize for these? not to mention the skilled use of the molding clay -- as my own customizations are limited to plastic surgery and pinned-up Ken doll clothes. But love, love, love.

Date: 2004-03-30 07:41 am (UTC)Dude, it'd take five seconds with some black paint to make him look at least vaguely like Nemo.
But I shouldn't complain, being how hot the rest of the figures are.
Ooooooo!
