Not in the least. When I used to bother to look, a movie's sudden rise in polled awfulness often coincided with its debut on MST3K. Which is a shame, as I'd argue that, for example, Titanic is a more soul-destroying movie than Manos.

Oh, hell absolutely! Titanic is one of the most gawd-awful movies imaginable. I actually saw it in the theatres - an laughed inappropriately. It was reasonably accurate about how the ship broke up, but everything else was just a load of crap. It's a total embarressment that it won an Oscar. I swear the only reason it did was the loads of money involved - both in the production and the box-office. (Perhaps in bribes, but nothing's been proven.) Hands down, it's the worst, most cliched script in the last ten years.
