I don't doubt that you can outbid me, you hag, but by God I'm gonna make it hurt!

ETA: I lost. But she's paying double the going rate for the damned thing.

That's the greatest joy in ebay shopping. Such joy in driving the price up for a stranger! It is even more satisfying when you look at the other things they've bought and it's all terrible shit like cabbage patch doll clothes or Creed cds.

The guy in your icon terrifies me. I always wanted one of the contestants to brain him with a set of antique pharmacist's weights.

I am sorry. :( I understand, though, that few think he's a right bobby dazzler as I do.

You go, girl! That's my philosophy, too -- or always was at the MWCon art shows before I started drawing and when I could *never* get the art I wanted. But, dammit, I drove the price up to my highest bid in 3 bids or less -- I never saw any point in wasting my time.

Ebay and other auction sites with their "proxy bidding" irk me. I want the option to bid in big fat increments if I so choose, not nickel and dime the price up, up, up. ::grumble:: (Well, you know, I like it when I'm a seller, hate it when I'm a buyer.)

I like Susan's strategy of immediately putting out her high bid. It either scares the shit out of any competitors, or gets the torment over with so you can enjoy watching the other punters.

Yes!! That's (pretty close to) my strategy, too. Which is probably why eBay doesn't work that way. Punting slowly raises the price and people one-dollar themselves to death. (I've also noticed that high minimum bids are often a mistake. I get much better results from very low minimums on Ebay when selling. Which reminds me -- got that Pakistani sword from about 5 MediaWests ago to unload. :g:)

Can't you do that to the bidders of MY auctions so I can become very rich? Please?
