I just don't get people who are my age or older, who keep falling for the Gordon Sinclair hoax. I remember when he had a huge spoken-word hit 45 of that message, so popular that all the record stores were sold out of it. I remember a variety store billboard which read: "It's here - Gordon Sinclair's The Americans". They played the hell out of that thing throughout the winter of 1973-74, and I feel like I'm the only one who remembers it. In fact, I think I have it on an old K-Tel collection.

I think it wasn't so much a deliberate hoax as a 'net version of the telephone game. Somebody put it up as a 'hey, remember this?' and somewhere along the line, it devolved into 'this is brand new!' A well-intended sentiment, but a 25-year-old one.

Why people get off on the Nostradamus crap is another mystery altogether...
