It's sad, really. By all accounts, Jimmy Doohan is a nice fella and all. I've never met him. But all I can think, seeing him all over the news, is, Hey, I know somebody who slept with that guy!

No, it isn't. But my friends' lives are.

That's not necessarily a good thing, you understand.

I've met him. He's an extremely nice man.

I was really sad when I heard he was fighting Alzheimer's.

I won a bet with my father on Saturday about him. He insisted that he was dead. I said no, it's just DeForest Kelley, Mark Lenard, and Matt Jeffries who've passed on in recent years (not counting Gene Roddenberry but who cares about him anyhow). Anyhow, I won and we had burgers for dinner and not just ice cream sundaes. YAY I SHOWED HIM!

I had difficulty liking Jimmy Doohan at all; I got so tired of him ragging about SWars, and complaining that Shatner & Nimoy got all the lines (uh, yeah, they were the stars of the show), and being drunk. DeForest Kelley was a lovely man, though; I was sorry to hear of his death when it happened. I didn't know that Mark Lenard had passed away, and (raising my hand) *I* care that Roddenberry is gone. He may not have been a great writer, but he was a very good "idea man".

I *really* won't miss Whiny Walter Koenig, though, when he kicks.

He was given a big farewell bash and a star on Hollywood Boulevard, prior to his retirement from public life due to the onset of Alzheimer's Disease.
