Deb came in with a ladybug clinging to her lunch bag. I herded it into my hand, and went through the security doors and down three floors with my hands wedged together. (Two people asked me if I was bleeding or something.) Got to the lobby, out the door, past the smokers, to set her free in a hedge.

Hands completely empty when opened. I don't know how she got out or what happened to her.

I now feel insects swarming in my hair and clothing.

I hope she's okay. And not in my bra.

Ooh, that was brave of you. The spiders like our bath, and I try to put them out of the window I don't want to send them drowned down the plug hole, but I have to do it with newspaper and hysteria, I couldn't touch them. Well done. The karma from that must be superb.

You totally win. I...I can't pick spiders up. If I can get one onto a piece of paper, I will. But they like the ceilings, so it's usually a squashing for them. Also we have small pointy bitey spiders that have to be killed because Mom's allergic to their bites.

I don't mind ladybugs, since they're one of the few genuinely non-horrific insects. (Tomato worms are also cute, though I suppose not if you have tomatos. And inchworms. Really any kind of worm, except fucking centipedes and millipedes which should be WIPED FROM THE EARTH DIE DIE DIE DIE I'm fine now.)

Also, if it ever comes up, ladybugs like cream. You can put a drop on your pinky and she'll drink it right up.

I'm totally with you on the centipedes.

Really? You are a never-ending source of fascinating information. :)

Worms, eh? Then kindly come over here and scoop up all the damn earthworms all over my driveway just waiting to get squished by a tire or the garage door. I'm tired of trying to detach their dessicated corpses from the cement.

Hey!

Millipedes are cute, dammit!

Though I agree that centipedes are agents of evil.

Millipedes are thoroughly vile little creatures. They're what you'd get if you transplanted shrew brains into Sam Waterston's eyebrows.

You probably forgot to recite the rhyme to her, and she resented it. Ladybugs have rights, you know.

Oh dear.

That's when scratch paper and/or napkins come in handy. I usually use either when herding lizards out the door.

And I learned a new vocabulary word last week! Formication: the sensation of insects, particularly ants, crawling over your skin. (From [livejournal.com profile] camwyn, who I initially friended because one of her WIPs is a Hellblazer/HP.) And I knew LJ spell-check wouldn't recognize it.

Y'know, I'm not afraid of lizards. But I would totally have a horror of accidentally squishing one.

Also, whenever I think about one, I imagine it flying into my mouth and being all crunchy and then my legs feel all jelly-like and I shudder. Same with butterflies, only moreso. Except they wouldn't be crunchy, just evil.
