Jim Carey couldn't hold a candle to him. Gorshin was so good at being crazy/bad.

Word.

Of course, the sequins didn't really give Jim an edge.

*sad* And he was in that doofus Star Trek episode, too. RIP, Frank.

I think Gorshin was the ONLY Batman villain from that show who was genuinely scary. The others were all sort of "pantomime" scary, Gorshin brought a creepy edge of true terror to The Riddler.

Did you see him in the MTV spoof of "Interview with a Vampire" on their movie awards show many years ago? He played the Christian Slater role and Adam West played the vampire (or "bat man") role. Comedy gold.

I never watch the MTV Movie Awards. I should, because the stuff I hear about the sketches is totally brilliant.

*sniffles* He was so good as the Riddler and am I the only one who remembers him on that all impersonators show, The Copycats with Rich Little, etc. He did a mean Jimmy Cagney.

*blink*

I totally forgot about that show.

Was that the one that used "Comedy Tonight" as its theme, or was that yet another obscure variety show?

For some reason, I just loved it as a kid. The whole thing about impressionists (that's the right word, isn't it?) always fascinated me.

I think it did use "Comedy Tonight" as the theme now that you mention it! I just looked it up on IMDB and it's this one: The ABC Comedy Hour Presents the Kopy Cats (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068027/) so it makes sense that they would have!

If it was on Sunday nights, it's definitely the same show.

I think most of the good impression...ists today are doing animation voices. :/

I dont think it mentions what night it aired but I'm pretty sure it was the same one.

You're right re: animation voices. It's the only real outlet. Look at Maurice LaMarche.

By the way, and non sequitar: utter blasphemy? The remake of The Night Stalker next season with Stuart Townshend! KARL KOLCHAK IS NOT A PRETTY BOY!

I read a blurb about it on AICN.com and just wanted to puke. It's so so wrong.
