I keep trying to convince myself that I want to see the new Willy Wonka. The problem is that Johnny Depp's Willy (shut up!) is far too reminiscent of Michael Jackson. I am scared of him.

Me too. And no music! The music made the Gene Wilder version FABULOUS.

Johnny Depp/Tim Burton/Danny Elfman=OT3.

Oh yes... yes....

Thanks to your "(shut up!)" I now have visions of a tiny Michael Jackson in places where I least expected him 0_o

Just think of it this way: he's playing Hunter S. Thompson channeling Wonka.

Wait. That made it worse.

He is certainly not playing the actual character in the book. Instead it seems he went off in a corner and created a character with all sorts of quirks and clicks and weirdnesses. Interesting in a movie like PotC, where he legitimately *could* create someone out of wholecloth, but not so much in C&tCF, as that's already suppposed to *be* a certain character, and this guy is not him.

Ooh! Johnny Depp as Aragorn... what would he have done with that role?

Discuss! ;)

Yes. I have the same "Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka reminds me in the bad way of Michael Jackson" vibe.

Which is sad because I used to love Michael Jackson before he lost his entire mind.

Apparently, most of the stuff I liked about Michael Jackson was actually Quincy Jones.

Except Quincy doesn't dance like that, and can't hit those "hoo hoo" high notes.

Exactly.

::nods sadly in agreement:: Just a little too freaky.

oh, but you could take it as a whole mark bolan/glam rock thing, which is much less frightening.

I know! Would you trust a man like that, inviting young children to come in and eat his candy?

No, no! The heinous love child of Michael Jackon and Clea Duvall! Immaculately conceived, of course.

Just keep telling yourself that Depp's Wonka doesn't look at all like Michael Jackson because he has a *nose*. *nods firmly*
