I was just in the Post Office, buying stamps, and "Mr. Roboto" came on the radio. I couldn't fill out the check because I was laughing so hard.

Also, now the Postmaster hates me, because it turns out Styx is his second-favorite group ever and he's seen them in concert five times.

This morning, when I was in the basement buying soda, "Xanadu" was playing.

These sorts of incidents are why people buy handguns.

LOL That's not as bad as the time (4 years ago) that I spent most of Beatlefest hanging out with someone who was both a Macca fan and a Styx fan. Her fave rave was the dude who took over for Dennis DeYoung (Glen Burnick??). She practically had orgasms when he came out to play at the charity concert thingee they were holding that year in George's honour. She stopped talking to me because I could not embrace his fabulousness. *shudder*

Scariest thing is he's now the "McCartney" in the B'fest, erm, FEST FOR BEATLES FANS house tribute band.

If you go postal over this, I promise to be a character witness on your behalf.

Somebody took over for Dennis DeYoung?

I'm not certain, but I think Dennis DeYoung is solo now. Which makes him much easier to ignore.

Oh yeah. There was a whole Behind the Music devoted to it. He had a big falling out with the rest of the band because he refused to tour with them due to some sort of supposedly sensitivity to light issue (which suddenly vanished when he started touring on his own, I think). So they dumped his ass and got this new guy. Obviously he didn't last or he wouldn't be the bassist/Macca-vocalist for a Beatles Tribute band from New Jersey. LOL

The first rock concert I ever went to was Styx, when the Paradise Theater tour came to Brussels.

I got better, but I weep for all the really good bands that played in Europe while I was there and that I never saw.

I love Styx, but, yeah, "rock operas" are usually moronic (I mean, Jesus, *Tommy*, right?). I like the song Mr. Roboto, though, moronic or not (like the music from Tommy, too).

That's one thing I really miss the past two years, not going to MediaWest: our favorite Styx tape we play on the drive up.

P.S. You know, it's a bad idea to piss off the Postmaster.

I saw Styx during the "Kilroy Was Here" tour. They had movies acting out the little story in between songs. The surviving band members claim to have hated the idea NOW, but THEN they seemed pretty damn into it.

I regret nothing.

*sigh* I've made Mr. Tiki swear that he will abstain saying "Domo arigatou Mr. Roboto" during the length of our stay in Japan. I fear the worst. Curse you, Tommy Shaw!!!!
